![]() ![]() ![]() He's at no point asked to see any concept art or stuff like that, it doesn't effect his side of things at all, and I don't expect to see his "concept art" of his coding either, because that doesn't effect anything I'm doing either. I'd much rather just get on with it, but feel I have to do these drawings, simply because I'm not working alone now, and feel like "that's the thing you do when you're in a team". My heart just isn't in it, it's like buying someone a birthday card, what's the point, nobody looks at them, but it cost you a few dollars and your time to get it, and you only did that because they got you one last year, and they only did it because you did it the year before. I can't help but feel I'm wasting time doing those when the two of us are the only one who will ever see them, and I'm the only one who'll be working from them, which I wont be doing because like I say, got it all in my head far better than I'd have drawn it in some quick sketch, so suddenly the point of them is what exactly? Why even do them? I've absolutely zero intention of EVER showing them in public, or making some lame coming soon thread filled with them. But since I'm the one who's going to be working from it, and I already have a far better idea in my head than I could ever put down on paper. I now feel like I have to produce concept art because I'm not the only one involved now. However this time I'm not working alone, I have an awesome coder helping, because for once, I actually give a damn if this project succeeds or not, and I can't code worth S***, so, needed help.Īnd there's the problem. That's how I work, alone and with all the visual stuff stored safely in my head where thunderstorms and hard drive crashes wont wipe them from existence. My head is filled with ready made textured, animated models, scenes, sounds, music, gameplay. "Is there really any point to concept art, if you're the only one doing the art side of things?"įor example, the project I'm doing, I got it ALL up in my head, I know exactly how I want it to look, right down to an Ogre's backside. What I'm actually talking about here, can be summed up quite easily in one sentence. See I'm well aware of the importance of concept art in teams and bigger projects where different people do different jobs, and well aware of the need for it in those cases. Now I know exactly how some of you will have entered this thread, all ready to teach me the errors of my ways and show off your experience and knowledge of reading what people you wish you were said on the subject etc. ![]()
